Fingering colorwork
Baby alpaca wool comes from the first shearing and is even softer than normal alpaca wool. It is very warm, warmer than sheep wool, non-itchy, strong and hypoallergenic. It is perfect for knitting baby clothes.
Because it has such good properties, the garments you knit with it will have a higher quality than even cashmere and mohair. The garments last for many years due to the strength of the fiber.
Why alpaca wool does not produce allergy? because it does not contain lanolin, so it is perfect for people with very delicate skin. It also has a low water absorption, so it does not suffer deformations.
Of course, like sheep’s wool, it is flame retardant, which means it is fire resistant.
How to block alpaca wool and silk?
In our experience, it is enough to stretch the garment and pin it on a mat (or any surface that allows it), spray it with water and a few drops of your favorite essential oil or perfume for wool using a spray and soak it well and then wait until it is perfectly dry to remove it. In this step we recommend you to use and enjoy our wool perfume.
How to care for alpaca garments?
Hand wash:
Soak in water, leave to soak and apply neutral soap. Rub gently and rinse with new water.
To remove excess water, open a towel, place the garment on top and roll up without tightening. DO NOT STRESS as you may deform the garment.
Dry in the shade (to keep the colors longer) and horizontally.
Sustainability: Beautiful wool…
…that take care of your health… Synthetic fibers do not allow the skin to breathe and make it irritated, and many of them are petroleum-derived products that have been dyed with dyes containing heavy metals and other toxic substances. Natural fibers, however, allow ventilation of the skin while protecting from the cold and insulating the heat.
… and the environment… Alpaca, being a natural fiber, is made with more environmentally friendly techniques. It is also 100% biodegradable.
In addition, alpaca fibers from Peru, such as these, are fair trade fibers. This means that higher (fair) prices are offered to producers so that they can produce in better conditions, the situation of workers is also taken care of and their conditions are improved.
